When handmade crosses borders: our experience in Colombiamoda Miami

Participating in Colombiamoda Miami was much more than attending a fair or presenting a collection. It was an opportunity to share Luisa López's story with an international audience and confirm that handcrafted design continues to hold a relevant place in contemporary fashion.

This third edition of Colombiamoda Miami, held from May 27 to 29 in Wynwood, brought together 37 Colombian designers and brands in an event that included fashion shows, exhibition showrooms, interactive experiences, and commercial networking agendas.

Our participation was made possible thanks to our selection by the Épica program, a business strengthening program led by Inexmoda and the Medellín Mayor's Office, which aims to boost Colombian brands with growth potential and international projection.

For several weeks, we prepared for this moment. From the selection of pieces to the construction of the visual proposal, every detail was carefully considered to convey the essence of the brand: sculptural, minimalist jewelry crafted through artisanal processes.

One of the most significant moments was presenting our pieces on our own runway at Colombiamoda Miami. Seeing the jewelry in motion, interacting with the body and light, allowed us to appreciate the sculptural dimension we strive to impart to each design.

Additionally, our pieces were selected to complement the looks of the Barcés and Brunella Tascón brands during their fashion shows. It was inspiring to observe how the jewelry integrated naturally into different creative proposals, reaffirming its versatility and ability to adapt to various styles.

Beyond the visibility offered by an event of this magnitude, the most valuable aspect was the conversations. Buyers, designers, entrepreneurs, and fashion enthusiasts shared perspectives on the value of artisan work, the importance of the stories behind products, and the growing interest in pieces with identity and meaning.

For me, as a designer and founder, this experience also held personal significance. Several years ago, I decided to leave a corporate career to dedicate myself to learning a craft and building a brand from scratch. Participating in Colombiamoda Miami was one of those moments that invite you to look back and recognize how far you've come.

I take away new connections, inspiration, and the certainty that Colombian design has much to contribute to the world. And, above all, I am convinced that handcrafted work can go very far.
